Syed M. Ferdousuzzaman, Country Director

Syed Muhammad Ferdousuzzaman initally joined HOPE Foundation for Women and Children of Bangladesh in August 2015 as HOPE’s Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Ferdousuzzaman joined HOPE after a long career of 26 years in the Bangladesh Navy, retiring from his final position as Commander. Prior to this elevated position, he served in positions such as Deputy Director Naval Operations at Naval Headquarters and Deputy Director Naval Intelligence at Naval Headquarters. He has tremendous experience supervising junior staff and in charge of entire units and departments. He flourishes in operational and administrative top positions. He participated in joint operational training with Indonesia, Singapore, Maldives, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, France, USA and Indian Navies and also with USA Navy aviation (P-3 Orion), and served as a United Nations Peacekeeper in Georgia. Civil appointments consist of General Manager of Opex and Sinha Group, one of the largest RMG and Textile factories of Bangladesh as well as General Manager for Nasir Group. Mr. Ferdousuzzaman graduated from National University in 2002 with a BA in the Arts and graduated from BL College, Khuna in 1980 with a Higher Secondary Certificate in Science. He is fully fluent in Bangla and English and speaks conversational Hindi. Mr. Ferdousuzzaman is now serving as HOPE’s Country Director.

 

Dr. Nrinmoy Biswas

Dr. Nrinmoy Biswas, MBBS, DGO-Consultant, OB/GYN

Dr. Nrinmoy Biswas joined HOPE foundation in 2011 as our Consultant Obstetrician/Gynecologist and Medical Director. Dr. Biswas earned his Bachelors Degree in Medicine and Bachelors in Surgery at Rajshahi University, Bangladesh. He further gained his Diploma in Gyneacology and Obstetrics at New Age International University, Italy. He moved on to get his F.M.I.S. posting at Institute of Laparoscopic Surgery in India. His Post Graduate Degree in Gynecology and Obstetrics, as well as Surgery comes from Kumudini Medical College, Bangladesh. He received Higher Training in Assisted Reproductive Technique from The Institute of Reproductive Medicine, India. In regards to positions he has held, from 1997-1998 he served as Assistant Registrar of Kumudini Medical Hospital, which is a 750 bed hospital in Tangail, Bangladesh. From 1999 to 2009 he was the Assistant Director (Chief) and Consultant Surgeon at a 50 bed Community Hospital in Tangail, Bangladesh. In 2010 he served as a Medical Consultant, Gyn/Ob and Departmental Head of the 500 bed Monno Medical college in Manikgonj, Bangladesh. To this day, Dr. Biswas has perfomed over 3,000 C-sections and over 700 hysterectomies. He routinely provides ante-natal care and education to Mothers as well as screens for preventive health care. Dr. Biswas earned a prestigious scholarship from the Federation of International Gynecologists and Obstetricians (FIGO) in 2011 and traveled to Ethiopia to receive training on Obstetric Fistula Repair surgeries. Dr. Biswas received training from world renowned fistula surgeons, Dr. Steven Arrowsmith from the U.S. and Dr. Muleta Mulu from Ethiopia.

 

Dr. BijoyProfessor Dr. Bijoy K Das, MBBS, MCPS, MS-Senior Medical Advisor

Dr. Das is HOPE Hospital’s Senior Medical Advisor. Dr. Das obtained his medical degree from Chittagong Medical College in 1987. In 2000 he received his MCPS in 2000 and his MS in Pediatric Surgery from Dhaka University in 2004. He has fulfilled such positions as Medical Officer, Junior Consultant, Assistant Professor and Head Department of Pediatric Surgery and Professor and Head of Department of Pediatric Surgery and In charge, Department of Plastic Surgery at ZH Sikder Women’s Medical College, Dhaka, before joining HOPE. Dr. Das’ training abroad consisted of training in Plastic and Microvascular Surgery, Govt. Stanely Hospital, in Chennai, India and training in Boston’s Children Hospital at Harvard, USA. He has authored and co-authored 14 different publications, and he is a Rotary Club Volunteer for Cleft lip and Palate surgery, participating in different plastic surgery camps in rural Bangladesh since 2004.Dr. Bijoy Das has a special career interest in Pediatric Plastic Surgery.
